Trinity’s swim team enters the 2023-24 season as the defending Region 5 champions and are looking to achieve even more in this new school year.
The ECHO had the privilege of interviewing Sawyer Tapp, a standout junior on the swim and dive team, about this new season. “My goal is to break my own record and to get one more.” Tapp sets some tough goals, but he is certainly able to achieve them.
Tapp also credited brother Hunter Tapp ’19, as an inspiration. “He has two school records so that is probably the person that inspires me the most.” Tapp uses his brother as a role model to continue to achieve his full potential.
Tapp talked about his offseason and what he did to prepare. “I took a much-needed break from swimming and just relaxed… just mentally preparing.” Mentally preparing is key for Sawyer Tapp as it says it relaxes and focuses him so he can achieve the most during the swim season.
Tapp stays in the moment, but when asked about his future after Trinity, Tapp stated, “Hopefully I am able to swim for a D1 college… that’s the end goal.”
The Swim and Dive Rocks take part in the Sacred Heart Invite Tournament on Saturday, December 16th. Make sure to cheer them on this season!
