In 2025, the Bass Fishing Rocks held a strong season along with a promising finish. Last year, they had a boat finish third at regionals, sent all boats to the state tournament, and had every boat finish in the top 30 at Kentucky Lake. The Bass Fishing Rocks look to take it one step further this year, returning key fishermen Nicholas Clark, Eli Hagan and Mikey Kaufman. Clark shared their goal, stating, “We want every boat on the team that’s eligible to fish in regionals to make it to state and to try to take a podium spot in both regionals and state.”
The Bass Fishing Rocks have already improved immensely this year, with the team’s average weight in tournaments increasing significantly. Along with that, the Rocks have brought in newcomer anglers, including Lucas Craddock, who add a lot of talent to the roster. With a mix of steady underclassmen and an experienced senior class, these fishermen are truly looking to make a deep postseason run.
The team brings a different pace to athletics at Trinity. Being more of an individual sport, each fisherman has a unique mindset and style when it comes to reaching the goal of catching the biggest fish. Clark spoke on the joy of being on the fishing team. “Getting to experience all of the lakes and just spending time out on the water fishing is something I really enjoy. Going out there with a bunch of people and having fun is something I enjoy doing.” This distinctive sport is unlike any at Trinity and provides a great opportunity for people who enjoy being on the water.
Along with Trinity, schools like Muhlenberg County and St. X are other teams to watch in the state. The Rocks look to overcome Muhlenberg this year, a team that has won the state title the past couple of years. Along with Muhlenberg, St. X consistently finishes toward the top of the standings each year. Catch the Rocks in action this Saturday at Lake Cumberland for the KHSAA Regionals. Go Rocks!
