Trinity played Central Hardin in its home opener on Tuesday, Dec. 9. The Rocks secured a solid 67–51 win over the Bruins. Trinity opened with an early lead in the first quarter. In the second and third quarters, Central Hardin clawed back and cut the lead down. Then in the fourth quarter, the Rocks rebuilt the margin.
The Rocks had three players score in double figures on Tuesday, including two double-doubles. The team was led by junior guard Garrison Gilvin, who posted 21 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and five steals. Senior Thomas Hornek recorded the team’s second double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Jaidan Barlett also had an impressive showing with 13 points, six rebounds and two steals. Juniors Davis Cunningham and Reese Sandifer contributed eight points each. Trinity was without senior Xavier Crosby due to injury.
The student section showed up for the late Tuesday game, bringing plenty of Shamrock pride. The Rocks hope to keep that energy going with two big games this weekend: at Atherton on Friday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., and against Moeller, an Ohio team, on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 5 p.m.
