Senior Spotlight: Brady West and the Lacrosse Rocks

As the lacrosse season gets underway, senior Brady West says the main goal for the team is simple: come together and win. After already winning two state championships, West hopes the team can pull off a three-peat while continuing to build strong chemistry on and off the field. West, who plays midfielder for Trinity, believes unity will be the key to another successful run.

Personally, this season means a lot to West because it is his last year playing lacrosse. He said his main goal is to “take it all in” and enjoy every moment while trying to win another state championship. West also mentioned that he does not plan on playing lacrosse in college, which makes this final season even more important to him.

“Team chemistry is all that matters to get it done,” West said. He believes the team has the talent to be successful this season, especially with key seniors such as Logan Schweitzer, Gavin Telehany, Collin Teely, Thomas Neff and Henry Mitchell expected to help lead the team.

West also said the team has improved a lot over the past few years, especially in shooting. “Two years ago, we were terrible at shooting, and ever since then we’ve been getting a lot better,” he said. He thinks that improvement will be a big factor in how far the team can go this season. One matchup he is especially excited for is against St. X, a strong opponent that will be a big test for the team.

West credits his coach, Coach Schroeder, as the biggest influence on him as a player. “He just taught me the game these past four years, and I’ve just improved and used his advice to get better every day,” he said. In addition to playing for Trinity, West stayed active in the offseason by playing club indoor lacrosse for the Monarchs this winter. He first started playing lacrosse in third or fourth grade and stuck with it because he thought it was fun and liked being part of a team.

With strong leadership, improved skills and a focus on team chemistry, West believes the lacrosse team has high expectations for this season. For him, it’s all about finishing his high school career the right way and making the most of his final year on the field.
