Baseball Rocks Strike Early and Often in 11-1 Win Against Lafayette

On Thursday, March 19, Trinity Baseball Rocks captured a win over the Lafayette Generals using strong pitching and explosive offense. Trinity rolled to an 11-1 win, with two triples and a home run in the second inning courtesy of Nolan Hosking.

Leading the way on the mound was fellow ECHO staff member Griffin Brunstetter. Brunstetter set the tone early, keeping the Generals under control and helping the Rocks’ hot start to the game.

For Brunstetter especially, this game was important to him. “I was excited to get the ball with it being the first home game of the year, but especially because they were one of the teams that beat us last year when we went to their place,” Brunstetter said. “So there was definitely a little chip on our shoulders to avenge last year’s game, and I think we succeeded in doing so.”

The Rocks started the game hot, with one run in the first inning and seven in the second.

Trinity’s defense was impenetrable, allowing only one run in the second inning and shutting them down in the next three.

The game was called after five innings, showcasing the Rocks’ dominance.

With this win, the Rocks move to 2-0 as they look to become back-to-back state champions for the first time in school history.

While the season has just started, they are already hot and are looking to carry that momentum throughout the year.

The Rocks will next take on Greenwood High School in Bowling Green tonight at 5:30 CST. Go Rocks!
